Baby Name Poll Results
Gemma Violet vs. Gemma Katherine
We did a poll earlier this morning on whether we should use the name Gemma since my 9 year old sister in-law is named Emma. We received mostly positive feedback. :) To the poster that said we must be 15 because my sister in-law is only 9, you are wrong, we are both 25. My in-laws had my sister in-law Emma when my husband was 16 and they were in their early 40’s. She was a surprise baby. Anyway, now that we have decided to go with Gemma, we had planned to use Violet as her middle name but my husband also likes the idea of using Katherine as it is my first name and my mom’s middle name. WDYT? Thanks! ~Katie

Don’t feel the need to explain yourself to some people in here...anyway Gemma and Emma are way to close for Aunt and niece who will most likely be more like a cousin relationship. My Dad’s half siblings are a year younger and a year older than me. That’s weird enough! I can’t imagine our names being similar!

If I feel attacked on my poll I have the right to defend myself. :) Thank you for sharing your opinion but we have already decided to use Gemma as her first name and are now just wanting help deciding on her middle name. If my "need to explain myself to people on here" bothers you, feel free to skip over our poll. Thank you!

I quickly voted for Gemma Violet (because I thought it was gorgeous) without realizing that Katherine was a family name.I love the idea of that too. Can’t go wrong either way!
As for the names being similar I really don’t think it’s a big deal.We actually have 3 little ones in our family named Haylee,Baylie and Kaylee and other than somebody once joking that the next baby should be Shaylee it’s never been an issue.
I should clarify-We have a big extended family and they are all cousins from different parents. One person didn’t name their kids all rhyming names thank goodness :)

Both are very beautiful. I think that Emma and Gemma will be far enough apart in age so it wont matter that they’re cousins. GL :) P.S. I absolutely adore the name Gemma.
