Quick Question vs. About Adena’s vs. Middle Name

So we posted last night and got a lot of amazing suggestions for our daughter, Adena’s double middle name. But my husband brought something up to me that I’m now concerned about. We plan on having more kids in the future, but I wasn’t planning on giving them double middle names. Would that be weird to only have 1 of them with a double middle name? We are now considering not using a double middle name for Adena even though it was to honor my grandmother who also had 2 middle names. Dorothy Wilhelmina Kay was my grandmother’s name name, we don’t like Dorothy all that much, Adena Wilhelmina doesn’t flow very well because both having the same ending sound and we don’t really like it anyways, and our surname already starts with a K and Kay just doesn’t go well with it. We don’t like Willow or Willa or many names similar to Doeothy or Kay either and the ones we do like sound weird with Adena. We are lost now! Should we just use one middle name from the suggestions we got last night for her that way it’s easier later and don’t feel like we have to do more double middle names or what? Please tell us what you think we really need help! ~Liz&Ryan

I would use a double middle name to honour your grandmother. I think it would be fine if your other children don’t have double middle names just use another family member to honour so they all have family honour names. As long as you love the name that’s the main thing.

Kay is from Katherine. . So how about Adena Katherine?

Your kids’ names don’t HAVE to match, although my OCD makes it hard for me to say that. I have always thought my kids’ names had to have something in common, but now that I am closer to having kids I am letting go of that idea for some of the same reasons you let go of Dorothy and Kay. I realized I don’t actually like a lot of the names that will match the ones I really do like. So what I’m trying to say is that you don’t need to feel any pressure to give your kids later on double middle names just because this one has one. They are most likely not going to care so don’t stress over it.

Already ruled out Katherine, it doesn’t flow well with our surname. We’ve already ruled out these: Katherine, Kayla, Kaylee/Kaley, Dorothea, Dorian, Willow, and Willa because we either don’t like them or they sound weird with either Adena or our surname. Thanks though. In my eyes it’s not so much worried about them "matching" we are just worried it will look odd if one has a double middle name and the others don’t especially when we say them out loud. ~Liz&Ryan

I think it is fine. We are planning on naming our little girl Sutton Anne Marie, while her brothers and sisters only have one middle name. Everyone is fine with it.

It’s ok to not match the kids’ names, but I do think it’s a bit of a stretch to say that the double middle name honors your grandmother. I understand your reasoning against using her names or variations though.
