Yes, it’s perfect! You could spell it Karly instead if you wanted.

Absolutely. I would advise you not to use the spelling Karly as it just looks horrendous. Good choice on using Carly. Here’s some suggestions:

Carrie

These are just if you’re not totally set, but I think Carly is the closest you can get to Karl.

I think Carly absolutely works for Karl. It doesn’t matter that one is C and one is K. It’s really obvious who you are honouring.
