Weird Question vs. Miles vs. Marianne

I always think of my children’s names as adults, even in dating situations, and don’t want to choose names that seem unappealing to a potential partner. If that makes any sense... What do you and/or your spouses think of these names, in these terms? I asked about them a few days ago, but, not about this specific quality. Any thoughts? Sorry if this seems weird! Lol!

I think you are overthinking this waaaayyyy too much. I know people can be superficial, but if a potential partner finds your child’sname "unappealing", they probably aren’t worth your child’s time. Think of the cringe-worthy surnames out there that spouses take on. You do it out of love.

I know I am overthinking this, but, I have experience of people being this way. I help my SIL look for potential guys on a dating website and she is vert superficial about their names. I will find someone who seems like a great match and if she doesn’t like their name, she won’t even look at their profile. I know it is crazy and superficial and I do not share her same opinions, but, I now know that people actually have these thoughts. :-/

You don’t really date a person based on his/her name. Personality and for some people looks are way more important than a person’s name. That is why there are pet names.

Maybe it’s a good thing for those whose profiles are being passed over, that they avoid such a superficial person.

Miles is cute, in a geeky-cool sort of way.
Marianne is nice, but seems like a name from a different time frame.

Miles is handsome.I don’t see any issues there.
Marianne? I’m not sure.I think some people could possibly stereotype a Marianne as being a "goody goody"

Marianne is an unsexy name. I imagine a little sister from the 1950s, not an adult. I can imagine Miles being both a cute child and then a sexy and mature adult.

I absolutely adore Marianne! Very sweet and grows so well from child into adulthood. It also reminds me of Jane Austen’s Sense & Sensibility. ❤

Miles yes it’s appealing. Marianne. No it’s not appealing. I would date someone named Eustace Eugene if he had a great heart, sense of humor, and a fun personality. You are overthinking. Name your children w.e you find appealing and stop trying to please everyone else because you never will.

Thank you everyone! I know this is a weird and ridiculous question, so I appreciate you all answering. Like I mentioned, before my experiences I may not have put much thought into this, it just began to sneak into my thoughts that this may be a bigger deal than I ever imagined. Thanks! :-)

I think Miles is a sexy name. Marianne a bit stodgy. However, this is going to be 15+ years in the future so names may take on different qualities between now and then. Like Ramses--used to like that name and now it’s associated with a horrifically cruel, unhinged narcissist due to Game of Thrones. And I named my son Callum last year and now there’s a movie out about an assassin named Callum. Not sure whether that will tip the perception of his name or not...

Marianne sounds old and Miles sounds trendy and reminds of mile like how many miles you drive
