Moronic? That’s harsh. Illiterate? Yes. Reagan or not at all. Good luck! :0)

I think a lot of people will look at it and still assume it is said Reagan. At a fast clance it still looks like Reagan. And it will probably get annoying very quickly when she is older to have to keep telling people "switch the E and A around" and stuff like that and with as similar as they look I don’t think the corrections would easily stick with people. The spelling itself isn’t bad, it’s not like it’s Raygan or something. But it is a little confusing.

Funny I just made a poll with this name. I like the spelling better than Reagan because Raegan looks the way it’s said.
So fredacat are you saying I’m illiterate??

OP: I’m using it for a book character, not a child... I don’t know if that makes a difference in your opinions, but I thought I’d throw it out there. Thanks for the help so far! 😂

For a character in a book or a child, for you to even ask if it’s moronic or for Fredacat to say it’s illiterate is rude.
I just made a poll with this name and it’s not like it’s a made up name. It’s just like Katherine or Catherine. It’s all about preference. No need to be rude and name call someone on their name choices!!

I think Raegan is fine.

OP to Poster 6: Sorry, I didn’t mean to be rude by asking if it was moronic. I’ve been called some pretty awful names on this site (like that) for liking unique names. Just didn’t want everyone who reads my book to think I’m idiotic.

I think Raegan looks more like it comes from Game of Thrones (specifically the Targaryen family) whereas Reagan is the name of a president and anyone in the US would spell it this way. It’s not that Raegan would be said any differently, but it doesn’t aid in the pronunciation and will make spelling it harder because everyone will always spell it wrong.

Op, not you wouldn’t look idiotic. Spelling it like Raigen would though. Like I said I made a poll with this name earlier and it went fine. Don’t know why people are against it on here though. Regan/Reagan/ Raegan all the same name and are acceptable.

OP: Thanks! I think I’ll go for it then :)

If you actually look at Reagan it’s said like Ray-gan. So spelling it Raegan makes a lot of sense. Reagan or Regan looks like reg-an to me. To each their own.

I would pronounce them completely differently. There’s nothing moronic about Raegan if you pronounce it Ray-gan not Ree-gan.

No, not you. Your question was, "Would it be looked on as moronic." It being the spelling. :0)

Yes, it’s a legitimate spelling
