Yeah but if you prononce it still sounds a lot like Sarah Palin.

1. Pauline doesn’t sound like Palin, unless you don’t know how to pronounce one of them. The connection never entered my mind until I read your detailed question.

2. I suspect Palin is finished with national politics, unless she joins congress as an Alaskan rep later, but she probably won’t return to such national limelight as before, so I doubt she will be on anyone’s mind when your child is old enough to stand before them with paper id.

3. Use it if you like it, its not strange, except to say that you might be able to find better combinations if you weren’t so committed to this one firstname and this one family name for a MN.

I think it will be fine. If you are that worried, use a variation of one of the names. Sarah Paulette is cute and would still be honoring your mother.

I wouldn’t hesitate to name a girl Sarah Pauline.
