Ivy and Isla vs. Yvie and Iylah

Which spelling is best for our surprise twin girls due in June. My name is Steph and my husbands name in Jonathan. We have four older children Henry Mason, Kendall Paige, Wyatt Bartholomew and Adam Christopher. They are ages 11, 10, 8 and 5. I prefer the traditional spelling for Ivy and Isla. However my husband believes we should give them more modern and unique spellings Iylah and Yvie. I have seen these names spelt that way before however I don't love the names spelt that way. Ivy/Yvie's middle name will be Milla and Isla/Iylah's middle name will be Wren. So which spelling should we use?

Yvie and Iylah don't even look like they'd be said the same way.

Ivy and Isla are great but way too close. Milla Ivy and Isla Wren or Ivy Milla and Wren Isla would be a lot better

Ivy and Isla are sweet together. Not to be rude, but the other spellings look hideous, and borderline ignorant.

Why give all the other kids easy to spell names and give these two headaches for spellings? That's not terribly fair.

Yvie looks like it would be pronounced EE-vee (like a nickname for Yvette or Yvonne) not Ivy. Iylah just looks messy.

Yes, I think when a y is used at the beginning of a name it makes the Ee sound, so your hubby's idea for Ivy isn't an accurate spelling. Yvie = Evie, as the previous poster said.

Tbh I think the names themselves are too similar, none of your other kids have been given almost identical names...

DEFINITELY go with Ivy & Isla! Apart from causing a headache just from looking at them, Yvie & Ilyah would be mispronounced ALL the time. Yvie would be called Evie because the names Yvette, Yvonne, & Yvaine are pronounced EE-vet, EE-vun, & EE-vayn. Ilyah looks like Lilah with the capital i looking like an L.

Ivy and Isla are so darling. The other spellings are just messy and would cause a lot of pronunciation issues.
