Faith vs. Hope

We love virtue names, but Grace is a little too common for us. We have considered several other options and have come down to Faith and Hope ... just not sure which we like better. Which do you think is prettier?

As much as I'm not a fan of virtue names, both do have a very gorgeous sound. I voted for Hope, but I also really like the sound of Faith. Can't go wrong. Good luck!

I think Faith is a lot better. I know a 17 year old girl named Hope who hates it. She said she has had other kids her age call her "Hope the hoe" because of the Ho- at the start of her name. Most adults would think that is ridiculous and silly but teenagers aren't as mature as most adults.

We already considered those. We have never known anyone named Hope or Faith, so they are not common in our area.

I voted for Hope but Faith is nice too so I think either one would be great!

My name is Grace and I named my daughter Esperanza Kaye and we call her Hope. Hope in Spanish is Esperanza. My husband is Spanish and we wanted to have a Spanish name and a virtue name because I have one however, we went back and forth for a while about Esperanza. We live in surbura USA and I was concerned due to everyone being a Riley, Parker, Adan and Bailey that she would get teased because lets face it kids are not always nice and living in a cookie cutter community it's not always great to stick out. So she goes by Hope and at 5 starting to embrace the Esperanza more herself which I love.
Anywho have you though about alternative languages or meanings for the names you like? That always helps. Gl

Not to be crude or anything but it's hard to believe that your community doesn't have a hope or faith unless it's the smallest community ever. If you are an 80s baby like me maybe no but look for the children in your area because honestly hope, faith and grace are becoming popular again. Verity and Chasity are nice.
However none of them are bad names all great you can't go wrong with either. There are like Emma, ageless.

Not really. Plus ... and nothing against your daughter's name ... but our style preferences tend towards names that are easy to say and spell.

Esperanza is hard to pronounce? Maybe...never really thought about it. No one has ever had a problem pronouncing it. It's been more of a closed mind factor for me. But understandable.
Either way Hope got my vote. But Grace is great too. ;)

I like Faith. Not only does it have more flair than Hope, but it sounds more modern. I also like the meaning of Faith over Hope.

Both equally pretty. Common, just like what the above poster said ageless so they are kind of equal in my eyes. Hope however I believe is nicer. Honestly Grace would have got my vote.

I grew up with a Faith who ruined my view on the name. She was one of those snotty popular girls that seemed to use her virtue name as another reason to be placed higher on the social bar than a timid midget like me... However, that does not mean it's not a lovely name. I only mean that I wouldn't use it.

Hope is beautiful; I love it and wish I could use it. But it's slightly awkward to say because of the hard P at the end. It just stops so abruptly that you have to pause before you get to the rest of the name. It'll break up the flow for most combinations.

One of the reasons Grace is so popular is because it's so feminine and delicate. It goes well with a lot of names. But I totally understand the desire to steer clear of cliche middle names (that may be one of my greatest goals in life as a future mother)!

So here's the thing: you won't know which middle name is the perfect one until you pair it with a first name. For instance, if you adore the name Hannah, I would suggest using Hannah Faith instead of Hannah Hope. Or, if you liked the name Macy, I might suggest you pass on Faith because it sounds a bit too rhymey. But you might like it better that way. It's all up to you.

So good luck!

I think Hope is cute in childhood, but personally I think Faith fits well with any age. I wouldn't say either were common.
