Comfort/Morning vs. Isabella/Riley

My husband and I are expecting our first daughter together and we have completely different styles when it comes to names. There really is no middle. His top two names are Comfort and Morning (Yes, these are actually names). Mine are Isabella and Riley. I have gotten outside opinions from friends and family, most of them dislike his picks, but his mother thinks they are precious. I already have a daughter who I named Emma, which I love. A lot of people tell me to do his picks as a middle name, but I really dislike his names. Also, he wants his names first. I would really appreciate any advice or even name suggestions.

The Top Baby Name is...

Does he like other word names, like Dawn, Lily, Hope or does he just like words that are usually not used as names? I would probably ask him to choose something that is more name-like if you are not comfortable with his approach. Considering how many names there are, he should be able to give up the idea of using a noun and find something else he likes. You will prob need to go outside of your comfort zone as well and consider something more unique.

So pathetically and ridiculously fake that I feel bad that I'm even giving a troll like you any attention by commenting. "Comfort" and "Morning"...WTF?! At least come up with more believable name choices.

Isabella is beautiful. If you can't agree on a name though then keep brainstorming. Maybe you could compromise by using a middle name like Morning or Comfort, but if you really hate them then don't do it. Personally I could never name my child Morning or Comfort. That's quite a burden to bear. Maybe he would like something like:

Verity
Joy
Desiree (desired)
Aurora (dawn)
Stella (star)
Chessa (peace)
Winifred (Joy)
Amani (peace)

He does not, he says they are too overused. Thank you very much for your opinion. I am very sorry that I have caused any confusion or hate, I did not mean to stir anything up. I will leave, and will not be returning to this website in the future.

I was afraid of sounding a little harsh, but, after reading that second comment, this is nothing: it sounds like you like trendy names which are dime a dozen and will be outdated one day, but the names your husband likes will be timelessly weird.

And to the ******** that wrote that second comment: I actually meant someone today named comfort so you can shove your "believable names" up yours

What about Promise? Or starlet?

I think Morning is ok as long as you don't spell it Mourning but that's what I think of. Comfort sort of means soft and casual so I would not use that. I would suggest Serene or Serena instead. Isabella and Riley are a bit overused now. Perhaps Isadora or Kylie. Don't worry about a few rude comments, it's all anonymous so that's going to happen. All the best.

If you guys can't compromise on using his chosen names as middle names (ie he cant' bear for them not to be used as first names, and you can't bear to use them at all), then I think its back to the drawing board!

I can see your point in not wanting names that are super odd, and I can see his point in not wanting names that are overused to the point of being dull.

Maybe something like Raven, Constance, Twyla, Tulip, Amity...

I don't understand why people have to be such jerks. Honestly.

If I were you I would try not to get discouraged and keep trying to meet in the middle. I do agree that Morning or Comfort aren't the best choices because of teasing potential. What about something like Meadow? Just keep searching, you'll know when you find the one! GL

Also,Isabella and Riley are really nice. I love Isabella,nn Bella. It's beautiful. What about finding a name that means something like comfort or morning? Maybe Daya? Sorry for posting twice. I wish you well and congratulations on your baby!

I actually know a little girl named Morning, and I think it is a beautiful name! There was a time when less common word names like Honor, Experience, Charity, Patience, Prudence, Mercy, and Temperance ruled the day. I think some of them are incredibly beautiful! I'm partial to Honesty and Modesty, myself.

But, dear poster, you stated that you don't like his name choices... And if he doesn't like yours, then you'll both have to compromise. All of us on here can give our opinions and two cents worth of advice, but what it really comes down to is you and your husband's willingness to work together on choosing a name. It's a long and challenging process for most, and that's okay. You are naming a human, after all.

Riley is too overused and better on a boy. Isabella Morning is ok.
