Carly vs. Gabrielle

Okay. Last poll on these two names. I changed the spelling for Carly--thanks to those who suggested this spelling. Anyway, I’m due in 6 weeks and need to decide. I love both. However, I do Hate the nickname Gabby and can’t think of any real nicknames for Carly. Just can’t decide on the full names themselves. Please help. Naming a pet is much easier :)

I don’t think you can pick a name based strictly on the nn.
Gabrielle is gorgeous! I really dislike Carly...
But if you really dislike Gabby;
Elle, Ella Gab are other common nn for Gabrielle

not a big fan of the name gabrielle. carly is really nice and even carly gabrielle would work well together

Both are nice, but Gabrielle is my favorite. I think nicknames are a choice, that your daughter will or won’t accept. I have a good friend named Elizabeth and it is very clear that is her name and that no one calls her a nickname... So I wouldn’t worry about it. The nicknames that stick are the ones that start in the family...

I adore both and I’m with you on the Gabby thing. I would use Carla and call her Carly as a nickname to give it more sophistication. Carla Gabrielle sounds great.
