How do you pronounce them?

Caoilainn is pronounced KAY-lynn
Saoirse is pronounced Seer-Sha
Ruarie is pronounced Roar-ee

I would choose different spellings for Caoilainn and Ruarie if you live in the US. Hardly anyone will be able to pronounce them and it will be a buden for your daughter. Maybe you could use one as a mn. Rory Caoilainn or Rory Saoirse?

I see that you like pure Irish names, but if you live in America, I think she will have trouble growing up with a name that no one can pronounce. Do you like any other Irish names that people will know?

That is true.. I wanted to keep the traditional Irish spellings of the names but I don’t want to make her life too difficult. Thanks for the advice :)

Siobhan, Niamh, Sian, are all traditional Irish names that most people know how to pronounce.

No it’s fine, I didn’t think it was harsh... I just want honest opinions. I like the names that you suggested! What do you think about Mairead Saoirse? Does it flow?

Mairead Saoirse is a pretty combo. Saoirse Mairead or Mairead Ruarie would work too.

Roisin is pretty too, but I guess it would be hard to pronounce also. Maybe it could be spelled Rosheen. GL!

I personally really really really like Saoirse. It’s one of my favorite names!

My name’s Deirdre, too! :-D
