I like Carly more. Carlie is a pretty spelling. Carling is also beautiful and popular now. I don’t hink Carlin is that badm but if you insit on changing, Carlie is best! Love that name, and GL with your move!

I really like your name but I would do Carly as the nn. Have you ever read the book The River King? It is about a girl with your name who is around your age and involves love, a mysterious death and a boarding school. GL!!

Carlin is a beautiful unique name, and you should be proud to have a name that your parents picked out for you! Be satisfied with what you have. When you get a little older, I’m sure you will appreciate it more.

I like Cara better. It definetly sounds more formal. Carly is fine if you like it more, I just don’t find the name to be pretty. Carlin sounds like a nice name to me : } You could go by Lyn/Lin too. Or by your mn, Rene is pretty! I don’t know who George Carlin is. So how did you get your name?
Thank you guys! Never heard of it but I just looked it up. It’s kinda freaky cuz I’m going to a boarding school. I live on an island in Alaska and I can’t stand it anymore. I’ll have to buy it and read it. And it’s by one of my favorite authors. Thank you so much Em!

Carlin is pretty and unique. I don’t understand why you would want to change it. You will appreciate it when you are older. My name is Jennifer and there were 1000 Jennifers growing up. I always wished I had a unique name and this is perfect!

Carlin is my great grandma’s maiden name and her family came over from Sweden. It is my grandma’s middle name and my mom’s middle name and my mom I guess just couldn’t keep it as a middle name. At least it has a story.

Cara (Care-ah) is more professional and will age best. I can see why you want to change it If my name were Carlin I’d want it changed to nothing feminine about it and doesn’t sound professional or that it will age well. I hope some parents will read this and learn something so when thier considering names they will think about the name 14, 20, 30 years down the road. Many don’t and give thier children really childish names unfortunately.

I could understand why you would want to go by Carly as a nn while you are young. Carlin is original and unique though and it is nice that your family incorporated tradition into it. I disagree with the poster 2 up because it was not just a weird random name your parents picked to be different - it has meaning and tradition! There is nothing wrong with that! I vote for Carly as a nn because it sounds like the most logical nickname.
