Is Lanie pronounced Law-nee or LAY-nee? I voted on the assumption of Lawnee, but I prefer Laynee. Anyway, I love Leah, even more so spelled Lia, but to each their own.

I wouldn't consider either to be sophisticated or timeless. Leah is kind of popular but it will age better than Lanie.
