I personally don’t care for either. At first, I automatically thought they were different spellings of Makayla---which is what I think other people will see first. Don’t you think you would get tired of spelling/pronouncing them for others?

I’ve been spelling my name for people my whole life. It’s not as annoying as you’d think. It seems that people with ’normal’ names are the ones who always say that the child will get tired of spelling the name, but people with ’unusual’ names aren’t as concerned with that.

I was just asking if you had thought of that. I have an unusual first name, spelled differently, and I actually switched to using my middle name (Jenna) in high school, because I got tired of spelling and correcting people.

I personally like Malekaya better, because I think more people will pronounce it correctly

I have to agree with the poster. It’s not that annoying to spell your name to people. Most people once they see the name once will know how to spell it. I like Malekaya better. It just seems to flow better than Mayekali.
