My husband and I like Joshua for our new son. But I fear that it is boring or outdated/old-fashioned. Is it still usable or has it lost it’s appeal? Please tell us what you think of this name. Thanks! ~Melissa
I am pregnant and so in my little sister in law (brother’s wife). We are both having girls and we are hoping our daughters will be best buddies and as close as we are. My husband and I love the name Penelope for our daughter with the nickname Penny. We always knew if we were to have a daughter that will be her name. Problem is my sister in law and brother are set on naming their daughter Penny (it will be her full name). My husband and I do not want another family member having the same name as our child. We want my sister in law and brother to change their daughter’s name but we don’t know how to speak to them about it. Penelope with the nickname Penny is what we want to keep as it has been a long time favorite of ours, also she will be our only child as we are much older (42) and already struggled with getting pregnant the first time while my sister in law is still very young (30) and might have another one or two kids down the road with my brother. Any advice?
My name is Harriet, and my husband is Blake.
We are first time parents expecting g/b twins in early November.
We have put together one short list per gender. Please help us find the best name. Eliminate your least favourite and please mention your favourites. We will leave the lists in the first comment.
Thank you so much for any help, Harriet & Blake :)
Hi! We have two children called Benedict James (Ben) and Genevieve Catherine (Ginny). We are expecting twins and have settled on the names Dorothy (Dodie) and Frederick (Freddie). Can you help us choose middle names? For Dorothy we have: Grace, Jane and Isabelle. For Frederick we have: Colin, Peter and Thomas. What do you think? Thank you!
What is your over all perspective on word names? Do you like a particular style of word names, like flowers or virtues? When does it get to the point for you that word names aren’t cute, they’re just ridiculous. Like Apple. What about word names that aren’t usually considered word names, like Mark or Jack? Would you give your child a word name? And so on. Just want to hear your overall thoughts. Thanks!
This is my last poll. These are the three names my hubby and I love best (Susannah, Athena and Miranda have been let go). From my huge list, it’s now down to three thanks to all of your help. Please vote for your favorite name in my poll and thanks again.
I gave my daughter a name I’ve always loved, it’s very beautiful and feminine but she really disliked her name. When she became a teenager, she started going by a more unisex/masculine name, which is weird since she is really beautiful and super girly and loves pink everything and not a tomboy in anyway and fits the feminine name I’d given her more than a unisex/masculine name she goes by. She is now in her late 20s and is about to get married since she will be changing her last name to his, she is thinking of going ahead and changing her first name to the name she has been using since she was a teen since she goes by it socially, professionally, and everywhere she goes. It broke my heart when I found out she disliked the name I’ve given her and went by a different name but now it hurts even more that she will be officially changing it. My husband and I are both upset about this, how do we learn to get over it and support our daughter?
we like this name, it sounds strong, but lots of people find it weird? what is your opinion?
We have two sweet six year olds named Annie Leigh and Lillian Kate "Lilli". Annie and Lilli love Madeline, because they want to call her Maddie, but my husband loves Bridget after his mother. Caroline was one of our options for the twins but was pushed aside after we decided on Annie and Lillian. Please help us find the perfect name for our sweet girl!
Ive seen a few polla on here that Princeton will be a name that will cause a lot of teasing because of the university. I like Princeton and I am considering it for my son. I live in Canada, will the university jokes/teasing be a problem here? Thank you.
My husband and I loved the name Julia but after many negative reactions from friends and family we decided against using the name and went with Juliet, a name recommended to us by them but not a name we love. Our daughter is almost 4 months old and we are not happy with the choice we made, we have been very sad about the name since she was born. We want to change her name to Julia as we know and feel in our hearts that this is the name that she should have. Do you think it’s too late to change her name at this point? If we do change it, how do we let friends and family know especially with the reactions to Julia when we first wanted to use the name?
