Eskalene vs. Eskaline vs. Escalene
I heard this name last night on an episode of forensic files but I can't find any information on the name itself. Perhaps the lady on the show spelled it differently than the original name. If anyone has heard of it or has anymore information please comment.

I'm not sure but it could be a variation or a longer form of Eska. Eska is a feminine name of Frisian origin, it is a short form of names that contained the Old Frisian element ēs, which means Æsir. Æsir is the name of one of the two pantheons of deities in Norse Mythology. But I've never actually heard of Eskalene/Eskaline/Escalene, so I don't really know, it's just a guess. I think Eskaline looks the best, so it got my vote.

There is an ancient Greek male name, Aeschylus ("ES-kil-us") that could be the origin. He was a famous playwright back then. There are Shakespearean characters in "Measure for Measure" and "Romeo and Juliet" named Escalus, a variant.
There is a Saint Askalon from the 3rd century. It's a Greek name for the Hebrew town of Ashkelon.
Eskilina is a Scandinavian feminine form of Eskil / Asketill, meaning God's cauldron. This seems to be the closest to what you are looking for.
I got all of these from behindthename .com. It's a very well researched site dedicated to the meanings of names. You can check it out and find a lot more. Just type in Eskaline on home page and tons of near matches pop up. Good luck! :0)

Scalene is a muscle group in the neck so I wouldn't go with that spelling.
