I agree with the user above. If you're going to just nickname them why give them a longer name? My family always nicknamed me Vicky, when my real name was really Victoria. I found it bad to have two names. Just call her Maddy/Maddie. Nicknames are useless.

I think it's childish. My name is Cami and people are always asking "Oh is that short for Camilla?" or they just assume Camilla or some other fuller version is my full name which gets a little irritating at times.

Childish, give her the option of a full name to use as an adult if she wants one (especially for professional/career/applications etc)

Options are always better. Think about it, it's better to have a choice than to be stuck with something. Madelyn or Madeleine will give her something to fall back on if she doesn't like Maddie. Maddie is set in stone with no foundation for her to be flexible with her identity. I have a "no nicknames" considered name and kinda disliked how little flexibility I had growing up so I vote full name
