Cultural vs. Names vs. Thoughts
Assuming they sound pretty and are pronounceable in English, is it bad to give kids cultural names? I want to give my children names that are unusual in America but from my culture, but I also saw a study recently that said people rate resumes with unusual names poorly compared to those with more traditional names. I personally have always done fine in life with an unusual name, but I don't want to generalize from that... do you think I'll be hurting my kid if I give them a cultural name?

Depends on what kind of name you want to give them & how uncommon it is. Something like Adelheid will definitely turn more heads than Ada. Personally, I don't think giving them a cultural name is a big deal however, I can't get behind the giving white baby girls Hawaiian names trend.

I say go for it for sure, especially if it's easy to pronounce

Please give your child a name you love and that connects them to their heritage. If it's a particularly complicated name, you may want to think ahead of time if there is a nickname for it that might be easier for Americans.

Definitely go for cultural names that are easy to pronounce in English! I second going with an easy nickname if need be.
