Florian Kaye vs. On a girl
Is the name Florian usable on a little girl? It would be after her grandfather Floriano. We know of one famous, female-bearer: Dido. We think her music is wonderful, so it only makes associations more positive. We don't like Flora or Floriana with our last name, and we can't use Florence. Help!

How about just Flori?
I don't think Floriana is okay with your last name. It is much cuter than Florian and adorable with Kay.

I only like Florian for a boy. Florie would be nice though, it was originally a nickname for Florence.

I think it's okay for a girl, but I definitely prefer it for a boy. If I were going to use it for a girl, I would use it as a middle name instead.

If you feel you must use Florian for a girl, definitely make it a mn. It just isn't flattering for a female.

Speaking as someone with a "masculine" name, I'm usually pretty open to using names regardless of gender, but this feels tooooo masculine. Especially when there are so many beautiful alternatives.

I think the suggestion of Florianne or Floriane are really pretty! While I do think of the name Florian as a boys name (only because a male character I adored in a book as a teen was named Florian haha), it hasn't been in the Top 1000 boys names (in the US) sinceā¦1941. So over half a century ago, a whopping 48 newborn boys were named Florian. Soooo I don't know if it SUPER matters or that the majority of people your daughter came into contact with would have ever heard the name.
