Kaspar vs. Kasper vs. Casper

Hi, I need some opinions on this one. I have a very German heritage and the name Casper is a strong German boy’s name with a lovely meaning. I really love the name, but a few people have told me that he might be ridiculed by having the name because of Casper the friendly ghost. I think it might just be my generation who even knows what Casper the ghost is, the cartoon being from the 50’s and the movie coming out in 1995. So what are your opinions? Also, how do you prefer it spelled?

I think it’s fine if it’s common where you live. I’ve just recently found out that names like Barbie were actually really names people would name their kid, and now people don’t because someone had to go and name a doll after their daughter.

I think Casper is adorable. Especially spelled that way. Good luck with little Casper!

Casper. I hate it when traditional "C" names are replaced with "K" it looks awful.

Actually, Kaspar is the traditional German spelling of the name.

I’ve heard of Kaspar as a last name. I think I like the spelling Casper, probably because that is how I’ve seen it thanks to the cartoons/movie. For the same reason, using the spelling Casper, he will be less likely to have to correct the spelling of his name all the time. Also, Kasper/ar looks trendy because of the fad of using k’s in place of c’s.

I like it and I vote for Casper!

Well, I’m not in Germany. Casper is how I have seen it in movies/literature/baby books

I like Caspar! Who cares about the ghost...don’t let it keep you from using the name. :)
