I immensely dislike them. They are so impersonal. If they have a given name besides their initials it is never used. Their whole life they are known by those initials. I feel they are childish.

There's nothing wrong with initials nicknames. They're common with juniors, like Charles Junior going by CJ. They're common enough, and not weird imo.

I don't mind them as long as the nickname isn't used all the time (unless full name/first name is a family name). I like CJ a lot. I do think it makes more sense for a name that doesn't have an obvious nickname. For example, Callum was suggested above. I'd assume Cal would be used over CJ. Just a thought.
Cooper Jack
Caleb Judah
Colin Josiah
Connor Jameson
Christian Jude
Calen Jeremiah
Do you have any family names that start with a C or J that you could include?

My two cents: as long as he has a classic name for the birth certificate that he can fall back on you can call him just about anything as a nn. So with that, nn C.J. is fine. Good luck! :0)
I am not huge on initial names but know many like them.

I personally wouldn't use them but have no strong opinion on them. They're normal to me. CJ, RJ, AJ. I knew a Timothy *J middle name* who went by TJ with associates. Fine with me

Initials as nicknames are fine. I wouldn't do more than one in a family though.

If you like it, who cares? It's perfectly normal. People will dislike anything these days really. As long as he has a stable first and middle name, who cares? Not like the kid can't drop it!
