Question vs. About vs. Tatum
Hi.... I posted a poll yesterday looking for middle names for Tatum. I got on this morning to check it out and someone said something to the effect of: "Poor kid... I feel sorry for her already..." Why? Is it that bad of a name? We thought it was a beautiful, not-overused, feminine name. Not to mention that the meaning is wonderful: "Brings joy". So, what I am asking you is, is the name really THAT bad to deserve that kind of comment? These are the middle names we are trying to decide between: Tatum Lynne, Tatum Hope, Tatum Grace, Tatum Leigh, Tatum Rhea & Tatum Claire. Which do you like and why? Thanks in advance for your help!

Ignore them. Tatum is not their taste in names and they choose to be rude about it. Tatum is a very beautiful name and I love the meaning. My favorite is Tatum Hope and Tatum Leigh. Good luck!

hate the name hop and lynne is old-lady.
grace and rhea are ok and claire doesn’t sound good with tatum

I surprisingly love Tatum...because normally I wouldn’t like a name like that..but I love it!. I like Tatum Victoria, Tatum Grace, Tatum Isabella.

I’m sorry Tatum is the name of a very busy highway where I live, so for me its not a name of a person. I really love very feminine names so I would never in a zillion years consider a unisex or boyish name for a girl. I don’t see how its feminine in the least bit. The diminutive is Tate, and that is another male name.

I wouldn’t use it personally, but I sort of like it.
My issue with it is that I immediately think of the actress, Tatum O’Neil (I guess that’s how old I am-LOL)!
Anyway, she was a major drug using train wreck for a long time.
I think that gave the name kind of a "bad-girl," rap for a while.
But no, I don’t think it’s "that bad of a name."
It’s certainly better than many I’ve seen on her of late....Braelynn, Briley, Kandee....
Anyway, if you like it, go for it and don’t worry about total strangers on the internet.
I like it with Claire or Grace, btw.

IMO Tatum is a pretty name for a girl. I believe you mentioned earlier that Lynne was your mothers middle name, so I would go with Tatum Lynne since that would have a special meaning. Tatum Leigh is also pretty. GL and go with what you like, not everyone would agree on any one name anyway.

My good friend just named her little girl Tatum and it is the name of a street where we live..Tatum blvd....but she used it anyways and it is well liked. It suits her well. I like it...you are always going to get some negative response just because we all have different taste.

I appreciate everyone’s feedback. It’s good to know that there are a lot of you out there that like this name, even if some don’t. We are still up in the air as to a middle name, but it will come to us I know. Thanks ladies.

Tatum is a gorgeous name, people just don’t like what they’ve never heard before. If it’s not your usual Isabella, Brianna, or Madison they think it’s "weird." I say go for it.

i don’t like the name Tatum sorry, but i think the person who left that comment could’ve said they didn’t like the name without being so harsh, i like the middle names Grace and Hope, i have to agree that Tatum is better than Braelyn! at least it’s a name! if you love it go for it, it’s just not my personal style GL
