Marguerite vs. Daisy vs. Marguerite "Daisy"
Second poll about honouring a Marguerite with Daisy, got some helpful comments and some weirdly mean comments. First off, my mamie is dead. Secondly, I never said I didn't like her name - I love Marguerite and think it is a beautiful name, just thought Daisy might be a more current update for a girl in an English speaking country in 2023 (rather than France in 1940's when my grandmother was born) and we like the name Daisy. Third, not looking for brownie points from the family for knowing that Daisy is a tribute to Marguerite. I was just asking if it's a good way to honour my mamie. Fourth, I don't know why people find it insulting to give an honour name that isn't the exact name – I was named Lilou in honour of a Liliane. Anyways, here's another poll. Which one to honour my late grandmother Marguerite? Either Marguerite, Daisy, or Marguerite with Daisy as the nickname? Marguerite means "Daisy" in French.
The Top Baby Name is...
Marguerite
Daisy
Marguerite "Dais

Because I tend to be indecisive, I voted Marguerite with a nickname of Daisy. That way you can use both! All of these options work wonderfully to honor your grandmother.

I think Daisy is strikingly beautiful. It has a slight floral touch and a sweet, lovely sound. I don't think you need to use the same name to honor loved ones, But if it feels right to you, go for it.

Daisy is very childish. I don't think your daughter would be very happy. I prefer Margeurite, maybe with a nickname.

Daisy is not a very good way to honor your grandmother. No one is going to know.

^get with the freaking program all of you.
I don't think its about what others will think, I think its about what she thinks is a good way to honour Margeurite. The name doesn't need to be that similar for it to be good. Daisy is pretty. And it does have a connection to Margeurite.

I love Daisy. And while I don't like people giving "honour" names that just start with the same letter etc, this is different. Daisy has traditionally been used as a nickname for Margaret or Marguerite. For example, the current Queen of Denmark, Margrethe, is often affectionately referred to as Daisy. So I think it's a nice way to honour your grandmother.

Daisy is cute and also gives your little some individuality. Not saying Marguerite isn't beautiful, but I love honor names that also can give said child their own identity. Daisy is perfect! The ties are visible to the people that matter, and like someone said, it's a common nickname for a Margaret/Margarita/Marguerite names of the sort. And I don't get the Daisy is childish comment, is Rose childish? Violet? Jasmine? All flowers just like a Daisy..

Daisy is definitely more juvenile than Marguerite. Maybe she won't care or maybe she'll wish she had something more. Marguerite or Marguerite nn Daisy gives her the most options.

I love both choices. You should go with the name you love the best. My grandma's middle name is Marguerite . I think old fashioned names are a trend ,so Marguerite would fit right in. Daisy is adorable too.
