Lynden vs. Linden

I want to honor my mom in my daughters name. Her middle name is Lynn and I feel like Lynden does that but Linden is the traditional spelling but I feel that doesn't honor her as much because it doesn't have Lynn in the spelling…maybe that weird but it's how I feel. Would spelling it Lynden be fine or would she have a lifetime of correcting people?

I voted Lynden. I'm pretty sure both spellings are known so I don't think you'd have problems after telling someone it's with a Y. I actually prefer the Y spelling.

Normally I'd say Linden but I do get where you're coming from and I don't see Lynden being a problem.

Both spellings seem more masculine to me. I don't have a huge preference between the two.

My dad and brother are named Linden, it's not a girls name at all, it doesn't even look or sound remotely feminine.
There are tons of actual girl names with Lynn or Lin-, Lynnette, Linda, Linnea etc

I disagree with some commenters. To me it seems more feminine, obviously not like a girly name but I know a couple Linden's and both are female which is probably why I view it feminine.

Linden is a tree and therefore unisex, Lyndon is too tied to the former president

Linden should be fine, it still has the "Lynn" sound in the name.
