Alex Catherine vs. Alix Catherine vs. Alyx Catherine

They are all pronounced the same. As far as we are aware Alix is a French variant and we feel it is a little more obvious she is a girl with this spelling. Alex is the most common so could be easier in the long run. Alyx was a spelling we saw which interested us. Thanks!

Yeah cause "Alex Catherine" on paper totally doesn't indicate girl

Usually I go for traditional spelling, but, unless it will be a double name, I'm going to vote for the Alix spelling. Especially in any setting where the middle name is not used, like school, in a waiting room, etc.

If her full name is Alex, on paper it will generally be Alex Smith (or whatever last name). That doesn't indicate girl. Oddball spellings don't really either.

Alexandra, Alexa, Alexia, Alexandrine, etc would all indicate that she's a girl without using a middle name all the time.

Good advice being given here

They didn't ask for the longer names that literally everyone knows can be used for Alex already. Do people think others don't know the name Alexandra? And Alex is fine and you don't always "need" a fuller name. That's like someone wanting to use Kate and you going "hey you forgot Katherine!"

I prefer Alex/Alix/Alyx to Alexandra because not a single Alexandra I know ever goes by her full name. I like Alix, because it seems to have some legitimacy to back it up vs. being just an invented spelling. And because, like you said, it gives a hint that this might be a girl. That might be helpful in the long run for avoiding awkward situations. The other spellings are fine too, but Alix got my vote.

Alex is probably best because it's the one people will be most familiar with, but I like Alix too! I think Alix is actually a variant of Alice rather than Alex- names, but don't quote me on that!

I like Alix. It is more feminine and would designate a girl on forms and lists.

Alix is so cute 😊 And she probably wouldn't be confused for a boy this way when someone sees her name.

Love Alyx, though she'll have to correct spelling a lot.
