Calla's vs. Sister

Hey, having a really hard time deciding on Calla's sisters' name. Calla didn't have a name until the last second (we had the worst time in the naming process!), and now it's like we have too many options. I adore Ivy and Hazel the most. Both are perfect with Calla (which is darling btw). I like Lola, but not sure you want both names ending the same.

Hi Guest, I do agree that Lola sounds a little too similar, and happy to ditch it as we need to cut down!

Do you think Daisy and/or Ivy are too flower-y to pair with Calla? I know Calla isn't an exact flower name, but Calla Lily is. We do not want to intentionally do a flower theme - if it happens, it happens.

Calla & Hazel. I like them all but Ivy, but I know I'm in the minority with that opinion. Maybe I'm biased as I had a pretty rough run in with poison Ivy one time

Guest, oh gosh! You bring up a good point, do you think people will use "poison ivy" to tease? It's not the worst joke someone can make about a name, I know, but still something to think about? Maybe? Maybe not?!

Sorry, I have another question: we like the name Kaia but I think it sounds too similar to Calla. What do you think? Calla and Kaia are also quite similar visually.

Just checking back in. There are a lot of Ivy's out there these days, so I wouldn't worry about her being teased for her name (there's definitely worse names with more teasing potential). I also wouldn't worry about the flower theme. To be honest, many people may not even put two and two together that Calla (lily) and Ivy are flower related.

I like the name Kaia, but I do agree it's a bit close to Calla (beginning and ending sound are the same).

Thank you, Mak, you're so lovely! I appreciate your thoughts on Ivy and Kaia. We have at least eliminated one name, so might sit on the below 5 and come back with another poll in a couple of days if we haven't made any progress!

Calla and Ivy go together best imo. I don't think having a botanical theme is a problem. What's the worst that can happen? That you'll feel like you have to continue the theme and you're limited to the tons of botanical names out there? Even on your present list you have Hazel and Daisy as options for a future girl. A boy could be Basil or Oaken or Reed or any of a bunch of others. You could even consider your theme to be nature names and that opens up even more possibilities.

Calla is such a pretty name. I don't think the sister choices are nearly as beautiful.
Kaia is pretty, too, but maybe too similar.

Isabel is my favorite, though I prefer it spelled Isabelle. I really like Sadie with Calla. They are super cute together.

Hey. I'm the poison Ivy comment. I usually come back in case someone responds. I don't think poison Ivy is that much of a tease thing. I don't know any ivy's but It's not an unheard of name at all so I don't think a lot of people will immediately go like, "poison Ivy? Wow" lol. I had no intention on discouraging you, it's still a very usable name. Any name can be teased really. It's just not my cup of tea. Best of luck ❤️
