It is a human name. Not a fan of Maximillan I prefer Maxwell or just Max but all work for humans. I don't think strictly dog when I see this name.

That's so stupid. Max is a fine name. People use human names for pets all the time, does that mean that name is just for dogs? My neighbor has a dog Steven, guess I need to send the memo to all the human Steven's that they have a dog name now. See how stupid and flawed that logic is. A "dog name" is something like Sparky, not freaking Max.

I agree with the above comment. A real dog name is Rover/pepper or something ridiculous

I know a Max in his 20s and a toddler Max. Toddler is named just Max. Adult Max I think has a longer formal name, maybe Maximilian but I'm not sure. I do not know any dogs named Max but I could see it working as a dog name- generally anything short that's easy to call out works for dogs. I wouldn't worry about it, but if your partner doesn't like Max on a baby/person then I'd consider something else.
