Rosalie vs. Roselie

When we say this name, we pronounce it "rose-eh-lee" and not "rose-ah-lee." So we were thinking of spelling it Roselie. However, now we're concerned people might just say "rose-lee" instead. Sigh. Thoughts?

I think Roselie would be fine. In my opinion, Rose-lee would be spelled Roslie. Pretty!

Just use the actual name. Rosalie. No need to change it

I think Roselie will be pronounced Rose-lee, unfortunately. "eh" and "ah" are so similar for many accents imo. I tried saying Rosalie. If I slowed it down, it would be Rose-eh-lie, but when I say it normally it's Rose-ah-lie or an inbetween of "eh" and "ah".

I think it will be a headache to misspell a perfectly great name, sorry!

I think Roselie is cute, but I get what you're saying. It does kind of look like rose - lee.
But I think if you tell people, it won't be too hard. If you like it, use it!

Rose-lie would be pronounced differently

I would agree to spell it Roselie. Rose-eh-lee is close to "rose-ellie" and in my opinion Rosalie will never give that pronunciation first go round. Roselie might confuse people but it would make more sense to use that spelling for the pronunciation than use Rosalie and use a completely different pronunciation than the name is

I have a name that isnt completely unheard of but definetely not something you see everyday. Then my mother decided that she would also pronounce it differently. It's been frustrating my entire life. By the time I was 10yrs old, I ditched the name and go by my nn, exclusively.
With that being said, just get down with the normal way to say it or pick something else. Its not worth stressing her out for the rest of her life.

I have a Rose variant name that's less common and everyone mispronounces it. It's bugged me my whole life, and I just go by a nickname. Do what you want, but I'd personally recommend just going with Rosalie, it will be less of a headache for your child.

I think the pronunciation and spelling you want is going to confuse people. If you don't like the Rosalie spelling and pronunciation, you may want to consider a different name.

Rosalie is strictly Rosa-lee
Nobody is gonna say Rose-ehh-lee
I would suggest using the spelling you put for the second option

Rosalie for sure. But I agree that I don't think anybody will end up pronouncing it your preferred way either way. Also, she may end up going by just Rose or Rosie anyway
