Margaux vs. Margot
My husband and I want to use the classic French spelling, Margaux, but recently someone told me that it looks "trashy" and to use Margot instead. Personally, I think the spelling Margot looks like the word "maggot" so I'd prefer not to use it. Plus, Margaux feels more feminine and unique to me. But, I'm looking for other opinions... Which spelling do you prefer?

I like Margot, but honestly they're both fine! Use whichever one you and your husband love!

Margaux because with Margot you will continue to see maggot. You could also use the Margo spelling.

I have to correct you. Margot is THE classic French spelling. It was short for Marguerite (Margaret). I much prefer this spelling and I don't worry about "maggot" too much.
Margaux is a place name noted for its wine.
I would advise you to just choose what feels right for you and what looks best with your surname.

Margot is my definitely my favorite spelling of the name. I do not think of maggot when I see Margot. Margot is actually the classic French spelling btw.
Margaux is from the name of a French town known for its wine. It is also the name of Margaux Hemingway (the granddaughter of Ernest Hemingway), but she actually changed the spelling of her name from Margot. I personally don't like how Margaux looks.
Margo is another spelling you might like. It's my second favorite spelling of the name.

Margaux is an Anglicized version of what one assumed was a French spelling. However, the actual French version is Margot. This is copied and pasted from an article: "Margaux/Margeaux are alternate American spellings of the French name, Margot, which itself is a derivative of the name Margaret."
