Malia vs. Good in Spanish vs. Bad in Spanish
Hello Spanish speakers. Please help me. I want to name my daughter Malia (pronounced as Mah-LEE-ah), but I fear it might mean something bad in Spanish. Also, I was told that the word malilla in Mexico means to be coming down from a drug or like having a hangover. Have you heard of this before, and if so does malilla sound like Malia? Would my daughter be teased with a name like Malia in Mexico? Do most people know of the term malilla in Mexico? THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP! Any comments are much appreciated too :)

When I hear the name Malia i just think of the party resort in Greece, it's a popular place for clubbers and party people, but I suspect I'm in the small minority. I do still find the name pretty though.

I think it's a beautiful name but I don't speak Spanish so I guess I can't help. Malia Obama seems to be doing ok, as is my friend Melia (pronounced the same way)
