Ezra Alexander vs. Yes vs. No

This is my first baby and a boy. Im a single mom by choice so naming my son is solely up to me. I was very excited with the name I chose and was so excited to tell my family but so far the only person that likes the name is my sister. I've gotten many comments from family stating that it's a girls name, or that I made up the name and it's ridiculous. I usually comment that it is becoming a trending name or that it is in the Bible but no one seems to get it. I originally chose the name because I thought it was different and just loved the name and have heard the name my entire life I never thought it was weird just less common. Since choosing the name I have noticed it rising in popularity and have met several pregnant women who have chosen the same name. Does anyone else feel this name is just to out there or even that it seems to be more feminine with boys names for girls becoming more popular? Is this a bad choice?

His name would mean "Helper"/"Defender and Protector of mankind" which is super epic. I'd keep it. Who cares what others are thinking. They'll come to love the boy with the name when they meet him. Right now the name is just a name to them.

I think it is becoming a more girly name. I think Elijah Alexander would be more handsome.

I know a 2-yr-old Ezra. It's definitely not too out-there, as it's a pretty well-known biblical name (sorry your family didn't know that). Biblical names like like Noah, Micah, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Elijah/Eli, Judah/Jude, etc. are in right now, regardless of your religious affiliation. Ezra fits right in with those. If that doesn't convince them, you can point out a name like Joshua, that is clearly male and ends in A. Ending in A does NOT make it a girl name. Not that there isn't a girl out there named Ezra (I know a girl Asa), but maybe that would help them see that Ezra is a perfectly acceptable boy's name. But whether they like it or not, it's your child to name as you wish. Good luck!

Now people think Ezra is girly ?! Ridiculous. Every name isn't a girl name. Sure many boy names are used on girls but that doesn't mean the girl side owns a name.

It's definitely not a girls name. I don't know who would even come up with that (I assume they just didn't like the name and didn't want to feel rude telling you that straight-up?).

It's not my favourite name and I personally associate it with a negative TV character, but it's common enough that I've met a handful of Ezra's under 5, so it's definitely not an out-there name either.

Ezra is a strong name. Forget the others' opinion. This is your child. One of my biggest regrets is not giving my child a name I truly loved( I liked the name) just to appease others. Good luck!

Ezra is clearly a boys name. I don't know why it's used on girls. But it is a biblical name. I like Ezra but not with Alexander.

Ezra is a masculine name. Ezra Alexander is very handsome. I love it!

Ezra Alexander is so handsome! Nothing about it is girly even if people decide to give it to a girl. You could do so much worse than Ezra. Nothing wrong with it at all!

Use the name you love, that's all that matters! They'll love him for being him once they meet him.

Ezra Alexander is great! It's a moderately popular boy name and will fit in just fine with his peers.
