Verna Elise vs. Opinions
We're the Harrington family, due with a baby girl at the end of April. Throughout the pregnancy, we planned on naming her after her paternal grandfather, Vernon. We have been considering the name Verna Elise for years, if we ever had a girl. Now that her paternal grandfather died last February, the name means even more to us. What do you all think of the name Verna Elise Harrington? The middle name Elise isn't set in stone, but it's after my mother, Elizabeth. If you don't like Elise, what about Verna Beth, Verna Eliza, Verna Isabel, or Verna Isabella? Thanks everyone in advance for your help! -The Harrington family

Might you consider taking the first few letters from Vernon's name to create a name? A name such a Vera or Verena would be lovely.
I agree with the first poster.
(I like Verena better than Vera, tho'.)
Verna is dated.
As for the middle name - Verena Isabella or Verena Eliza would be very pretty and with Reina/Rayna/Reyna as a nickname.

I think that Verna Elise is pretty. I also like Verna Beth.

Verna is a beautiful name. I say go for it. It is no more dated than Eleanor and that's coming back. Verna is a sweet classic.

I had an Aunt Vera, which I prefer to Verna. I like Elise for a middle name.

Someone should be able to use any name they want. Saying a name is dated and unusable is silly. Verna is a wonderful name and should be used again.

People can use whatever names they want and they should! These are polls and people share opinions … as they should. That's the intent of (most) OPs.
Verna Elise is fine. I do think Verna Beth sounds a little better though.

Not a fan of Verna but I think Verna Beth has the best flow. I agree with the others about naming her Vera…more modern but still honors him. Vera Beth or Vera Elizabeth gmv
