Charles vs. Charlie

Husband wants to use Charles for his grandfather, I'm not a fan of Charles but I love Charlie. Do we give him the full name Charles?

I also prefer Charlie to Charles BUT if you're going to call him Charlie anyways and Charles would be an honor name I personally would compromise

Not a fan of the name Charles personally, but I agree with the first poster :) I do like Charlie as well.

It would also give your son the option of using the more formal name when they're older.

No, its not, Charles is formal, Charlie is casual, and if you can get one from the other no reason not to start formal and use casual.

Charlie is a nickname for Charles.
Name him Charles and call him Charlie.

If you name him just Charlie, everyone will assume his full name is Charles anyway.
