Alex Theodore vs. Alexander Theodore

I really love the name Alex for a son but can't decide if I should stick with just Alex or extend the name to Alexander. Theodore is after my husbands grandfather and is also a name in my family tree. Last name is Richardson. Thank you in advance.

Alex is fine for a first name. If you like it better than Alexander, I think that you should use it.
