All of our kids, regardless of his/her gender will have a surname as a first name. We will use a girly middle name to balance out the name.

I don't think it's a good idea to have the word "raw" as part of a girls name and I don't find anything particularly feminine about Townes.

Surnames as fns: Bellamy, Darcy, Ellington, Keely, Lacey and Sloan.

Hilary Duff just named her baby Townes! Super cute, so Townes gmv. I find the -lings ending great, but I don't like the 'raw' sound of Rawlings.

I agree surnames for 1st names are great. My son's 1st name is a surname. Before you name your child, ask yourself if the child will like their name when they are 30?

Personally, I'd go with a family surname rather than picking some random surname I have no connection to. Are either of these surnames in your family tree? If not, are there any surnames you like in your family that could work as given names?

My sons all have surnames for first names but Townes and Rawlings is too out there especially for a girl. Give her something more feminine

She needs a feminine surname. Townes and Rawlings are overly masculine. Adding a feminine middle name won't make the masculine first name feminine.

Go out and ask actual girls if they'd rather have a first name of Rose or f*king TOWNES for crying out loud. Common doesn't equal bad. Rawlings & Townes, however, is actually bad. Uncommon also doesn't equal attractive. Learn the difference please 🤦‍♀️
