Horrible overused unattractive surnames, completely mannish but almost exclusively used on poor girls as fn. Find something better, it won't be hard.

I hear them both exclusively on females now. The first Addison I knew, though, was an older man. Addison has always had a male vibe for me because of that.

I'm not a fan of either but I'd say these names are mostly found on girls, unfortunately.

I definitely think Madison is girl-turned now especially for the Maddie nickname. I also just find it better sounding (for either) than Addison

I prefer Madeleine or Adelaide for the Maddie/Addie nicknames.

Of the two, Addison is better IMO. But both are equally "boyish".

Both

I know boys and girls with these names. All of them are fine and don't have any problems with their name. People on here are just rude.

They're mostly used for girls. Trendy in a bad way, though. There are much prettier names in the world.

The numbers don't lie. These are firmly girl names these days.
Madison is really dated to the early 2000s and early 2010s, I have to say. I'm surprised when I hear people using it now, as it's fallen so out of favor. I hear Addison more these days, but I prefer something a little softer (that isn't a disease) like Adelaide or Adeline, if you want the nickname Addie.

I know a little girl named Addison, unfortunately. I don't really like either of these names.

With the exception of Alison which started as a spelling corruption anything with 'son' in it is clearly not meant to be a girls name.

They are traditionally boy names but now are used most commonly for girls. I know many Madisons and Addisons that are female. I know one teenage male named Addison. I think they work for either.
