Keep it simple and authentic = Zoe.

Tell your husband that the spelling Zoey would probably give you and your child a lifetime of correcting people with the phrase "that's Zoe with a y". Who wants to do that all the time?

Sorry but adding the Y is Zoe for morons. Would you spell it Penelopey? Daphney? Evadey? No. So don't do it to Zoe.

I think you will never have to correct the pronunciation of her name if you spell it Zoey.

I like both and know people with both spellings. I think with the y might be clearer on the pronunciation.

Some names don't need a y at the end like Penelope. It doesn't end like Zoey
