What to you think about the name India vs. Or vs. Should I just Use Indie

I use to have a girl in my school called India and I actually really like the name, but wanted to get opinions and thoughts on the name from other people before I decide on anything. I am also thinking about just using Indie. Please let me know what the think? Thank you for the help.

I don't care for Indie or India as a name

I'm not personally a fan of India but I like Indira!

I would keep looking.

India is better as the full name. Other full name options for Indie are Lucinda, Rosalind, Melinda, Belinda and Indira.

I wouldn't use India as a name if you don't have a special connection to the place. Place names that aren't already sort of commonly used names (like Sydney, for example) always come across as pretty random to me unless there's a reason. I'd use Indie, if it's strictly between Indie and India. I like the suggestion of Indira!

Not a fan of either personally, but if you love it then it! Prefer indie to India though

I've always loved the name Indie. There's also the spelling Indy! I agree with Abbie to not use India unless you have a special connection to the place, but it is still a beautiful name.

India nn Indie

With a few exceptions, I tend to eschew place names that have no relevance to my life. I don't know about your situation but if it's just to get the nickname Indie, I think you have better options.

I really love it, but i believe it has its roots in colonialism, which sadly makes it a non-starter for me

India as a person's name just doesn't ring right. If you're going for Indie, how about the very lovely Indira, with nn Indie?

Per usual, "Miss Nomer" repeats what's already been said 🤦‍♀️
