Birdie vs. First name? Nn Birdie

I really love the name Birdie but unsure if it's okay as a stand alone name? Does it sound childish or like it wouldn't age well? Opinions? Also, if not, what name could I use for the nickname Birdie, I can only think of Elizabeth?

I like it fine as a stand alone name but you could always use a bird name, like Wren and call her Birdie as a nickname?

I wouldn't personally use it as a standalone name. Bridget could be a good option in place of Elizabeth.

As an aside, one of my college roommate's name was Leigh but we called her Leigh Bird and Birdie so I think you can use it as a nn pretty liberally.

Bernice or Bertha commonly use Birdie as a nn. Lots of people use a nn completely unrelated to the formal name. I would not name a child Birdie, as they would get teased if they were skinny, etc.

I think Birdie is a really cute nickname but not sure it would age well as a stand alone name, Beatrice or Bridget would be nice full names

I would used it for Bridgette.

We spend most of our lives as adults and Birdie is too twee and cutesy for a grown woman. What would an employer think when he or she saw the name Birdie on a resume? Would she even be taken seriously?

Would YOU want to be called Birdie? I certainly wouldn't.

For me, it's in the nickname only category.

Nickname only imo. You could go with a name that means bird and use birdie as a nn?
