Kate vs. Aurora
Hey! So we have a four-year-old daughter named Briar, and six weeks ago we had our second, who we named Aurora. Everyone has been telling us that it's weird that we named both of our daughters after the movie Sleeping Beauty, but that was unintentional! My husband never watched the movie, and I hadn't since I was little so I remembered NOTHING from the movie! We don't think it's too late to change Aurora's name to our second choice, Kate, but do you think it's necessary to make the switch on her name? Will they have the Sleeping Beauty association with them forever?

Just leave "everyone" should just let it be, she has a name bandits a nice one. Don't let the twits rule you.

Wow. Auto correct made a hash of that. The last sentence is all you really need.

YOU have to decide if you can live with people commenting about the Sleeping Beauty association regarding the names of your two daughters. It's a classic story so I don't think it's going away anytime soon. Personally, I don't think it's a bad association. If YOU think you can handle it and you still love the name Aurora, keep the name.
I think it's fine.

Remember, there are also a great deal of people, possibly the majority, who would never even make that connection or ever even know; I didn't.
I'd think it's more important that you love Aurora's name, rather than changing it to your "second choice." I imagine in the end, you'd regret that more.
