Brett Jessica vs. Brette Jessica

We want to use Brett for our daughter after my brother. It's unlikely we'd be able to save it for a boy, as we struggled to get pregnant. However, do you prefer Brette instead, to make the spelling more feminine? Middle name's Jessica (my name.) Thanks for your help! ~Jessica and Chad

How does tacking an "e" onto the end of Brett make it any more feminine? I might be biased though because I have a male relative with that name.

I just don't think it flows too well. Either spelling are fine.

Just keep it simple and stick with Brett. If you add an "e" at the end, some people may think that it's pronounced "brettee".

The Brett spelling was good enough for actress Brett Butler of the TV show "Grace Under Fire".

Why not give her this as a middle name?

Bad initials!!

What about giving her a name you both love with 2 middle names of Brett Jessica or just use Brett? This avoids the BJ initials and still honors your brother.

*avoids BS initials

I'd just use Brett as the middle name. Or do something similar like Brittany for the first name.

I once knew a girl Brett that spelled it with a H in it. Do not remember anymore if it was Breht, Brhet, Bhret, etc...
I actually like the look of Brette and think anybody that saw that would assume girl. Brett I think people would assume boy but know it could be a girl like the commentator Brett Cooper.

Oof don't do this to her. Call her something like Bette or Betsy that's inspired by him
