Prefer Anna, nn Annie, but Annie overwhelmingly to Shae, another boring surname.

Shay is my favorite spelling. I really like Anna and don't mind Ann(e) but for some reason I don't really care for Annie.

Annie is more boring than Shae. Anything can be a surname. Boring is more something you hear a lot.
