Cecelia vs. Shiela vs. Mallory

Just curious, what do you all think of names like these that sound lovely but don't have the most positive meanings? I like the sounds of Cecelia and Shiela, for example, but they both mean blind. Mallory also sounds so pretty, but means unlucky!

I really don't like Mallory because it has the 'Mal' prefix. Mal means bad in several languages.

"The name Mallory originates from the French language and holds the inauspicious meaning of Ill-Omened. Its origins can be traced back to medieval France, where names were often derived from occupations or personal characteristics. In the case of Mallory, it likely began as a derogatory nickname given to someone who was believed to bring bad luck or misfortune. Over time, this epithet transformed into a name and eventually found its way into use as a given name."

The name Claudia comes from the Latin word claudus, which means "lame" or "crippled". It was often associated with a physical disability.

FYI - Sheila is spelled Síle (original Irish), Sheila or Shelagh. I've never seen it spelled Shiela.

My vote went to Cecilia although I prefer it spelled like so. Sheila is a family name and I've never seen it spelled the way you've indicated (above).

If you love a name then I wouldn't worry about the meaning as most people won't ever know it or ask.
