Asher vs. Archer vs. Gabriel

I'm having the hardest time picking a boy name. My husband likes Archer but I don't want people to nickname him Archie. Suggestions for strong, masculine names that go well with last name Clarke are welcome.

I love Gabriel and like Asher. Archer Clarke sounds harsh to me with too many r's.
