Eli vs. Levi
I love both names, but they’re too close for brothers and I’ll have to decide on just one of them. Which one you prefer? Also, do you think Eli is better as just a nn for Elijah? Thanks.
The Top Baby Name is...
Eli
Levi

I like Elijah nn Eli. Then again I’m biased because that’s my son’s name. He 6 months old. Most of the time we call him Elijah but sometimes we call him Eli. Eli by itself was kinda unfinished to me. Too short like Ty.

My best friend has a brother named Eli and he gets called Levi all the time. I even do it on occasion and I have known him forever! I would do Levi so he wont always have to correct people.

Whatever people Eli is fine on its own. It sounds no shorter than Aiden, Karson or any of the other names it just looks shorter on paper.

The unfinished matter was one of my concerns, but I do prefer Eli rather than Elijah. And thanks for bringing the wrong name issue to my attention, guest, hadn’t thought about that.

I like Elijah with the nn Eli better than just Eli, but as a pp has said, Eli is fine on it’s own, and if it’s what you prefer, than go for it.
Maybe use Eli this time around and if you are blessed with another baby boy in the future, you could use Levi as his mn.

I’m having this same issue. I was set on Levi, but then I came across Eli...
By the way, a lot of people say Eli is only a nickname for Elijah or something simlar...well, Eli is a Bible name. In fact, Eli was before Elijah in the Bible.

i like both, i prefer Eli as a nn for Elijah, so if you had sons Elijah (nn Eli) and Levi i don’t think that would be too close, i prefer Levi though because it’s more unique, and you can pronounce Levi as lee-vi or le-vee, so then they won’t sound so similar

I know little boys named Eli, Elijah (nn Eli) and Levi. I think any of them are good names for a boy.

I love the name Eli, but I feel that Eli alone looks unfinished. Have you considered Elisha or Elias instead of Elijah? Elijah is a great name too, they are each very strong sounding.
Good Luck!
