Reagan vs. Kendra
I love the name Reagan for a little girl, and always have. I fear that the Ronald Reagan associations are a little too high with the name. The fact that he's a bearer doesn't alter my love for the name, even though I don't care for his association. However, I wouldn't want people thinking I named my daughter after him. Another name that I've always loved is Kendra. I think that Kendra is just as pretty for a little girl, I just don't like the nickname "Ken". So, should I go with Reagan or Kendra?

I love Kendra. She doesn't need a nickname. Although, it sounds like you're not 100% liking either name.
Historical rankings have generally placed Reagan in the upper tier of presidents but if you don't like the association, then I wouldn't use the name. I voted for Kendra but you may also like Meghan and/or Morgan.

Im with you on this one! A Shakespearean classic girls name marred by recent president. While I don't think everyone will assume you are a fan, the association is in escapable.

I don't think of Kendra as having a nickname (nor do I think Reagan does), and you don't need one. But if you want one, alternatives to Ken include Kay (like the letter K), Kens, Kendy, Candy/Kandy, Kennie, Dree, DeeDee. I like Kay and Kendy best, with a family pet name of Candy.

Shakespeare spelled the name like Regan instead of Reagan, so you could avoid some of the associations that way. I do recommend perhaps using it as a middle name instead, as I would also want to avoid a name association with someone responsible for genocide (of Indigenous Mayans in Guatemala). That said it might be a common enough name by now that people won't assume it's related to the president.

Ronald Reagan association is very high with the name and if that association bothers you wouldn't use it. I don't see the appeal of using a president surname as a first name anyway, not even political either. If everyone started doing that we'd have baby girl Trump's, baby girl Clinton's, baby girl Washington's…. Just no. Hideous, right?
Kendra is an actual cute choice. I think Kenna is nice too. Ken shouldn't be a worry, I know a couple of Kendra's and none go by Ken.
