I've decided on the first name Salome (pronounced SAL-oh-MAY) after one of the women who found Christ's empty tomb. I have three middle names for Salome: Zara, Zinnia, and Xena.

I'd vote for Zara but that's not how I'd pronounce it. In English, it's ZAHR-uh. I think Salome is okay but I can potentially see kids calling her salami.

Salome is a bold choice. The Salome I remember the most asked - and received - the head of John the Baptist on a platter after dancing for her stepfather King Herod.

I like Salome Zinnia.

Her name, Salome, is inspired by one of Christ's lesser-known female disciples. She should not be mistaken for the other Salome—the one who requested John the Baptist's head. Salome was the wife of Zebedee (Matthew 27:56), the mother of the disciples James and John, and a devoted follower of Jesus. Only Mark refers to Salome by name (see Mark 15:40).
