Madeline Emmaleigh vs. Madeline Emily vs. Madeline Emma

Our daughter will be Madeline and we want to give her husband's sister's name as a middle. Her name is Emmaleigh and husband wants to use it as is but I hate the spelling. Is changing it to Emily ruining the point? Emma is sort of our compromise, she went by it as a little girl but doesn't really anymore but it is still the first part of her name. For context we have an older daughter Savannah Taylor whose middle name is after my sister.

Honestly i'd go with the spelling of the sister. It's an honor name and hardly anyone knows the spelling of the name - except for family/close friends. Different spellings of names can be a very special thing for some people. I have a different spelling and it has meaning to me

I voted for Emily. You're still honoring your sister-in-law but giving your daughter a better spelling.

Personally, I wouldn't use a spelling I hate. It may impact how you feel about the whole combo itself.

Emily because I'm tired of Emma. Or Emmaleigh.

Emily for sure. Looks prettier. I don't love the spelling of Emmaleigh she would have to constantly correct people on the spelling.

I'd say Emma because that is the best compromise.
Emmaleigh- you hate the spelling
Emily- she (or your in-laws) might be offended that you didn't use her spelling
Emma- it's clear you are honoring Emmaleigh, in fact Emma is right in her name, but you don't have the negative feelings about it. So everyone wins. Use Emma.
