Melanie vs. Nicknames

I do plan on calling her Melanie, instead of a nickname, but nicknames are inevitable and I just don't want her being called Mel (no offence to any Mel's) I just feel like it has a completely different vibe, or am I overthinking it? Nickname ideas for Melanie that isn't Mel please

If you and later she doesn't want a nn just use the full name, know several people with nn prone names who go by full name and most respect that choice.

My SIL's name is Melanie. She gets called Mel all the time. If you don't like Mel, I suggest you choose another name because even though she goes by just Melanie, people continue to shorten it.

Jupiter - that's why I'm looking for a shortened nn now, that way if friends / family / herself wanted to shorten it she would already have a name in place besides Mel.
