Like it vs. Dislike it

How do you feel about the name Hyacinth. I really like it, but I'm worried it's "too much." I don't want her to be the kid with the weird name, but also don't want her to have the most popular name. What are your thoughts on Hyacinth? Are there any cute nicknames you can think of for it? Thanks!

I think Hyacinth sounds pretty and it would be a more unique floral name for sure.

Be warned: I've watched a British comedy series called "Keeping Up Appearances" for years. The main character is named Hyacinth Bucket. She's so ridiculously snobby that she insists on pronouncing her last name is as "bouquet" not as "bucket". She has three sisters named Daisy, Rose& Violet. Many other people may have the same image pop into their heads when they hear the name Hyacinth too. Just something to consider.

I don't mind the name, but I wouldn't say I really like it. I prefer other flower names such as Violet, Rose, Marigold, Dahlia etc. However, I appreciate the charm and uniqueness of Hyacinth. I like the name Cynthia nn Cindy, and Hyacinth kinda sounds like "hi-ya Cynth"! to me. Hyacinth nn Cindy like the first commenter indicated, would be nice. You can make it even more cutesy with "CinCin" as a nn.

I think Hyacinth would be a nice name! Cynthy or Cynthia are possible nicknames. Somebody also mention Cindy, and that could work as well.
